Discover Doğanbey Village -Kusadasi

Natural Beauty and Architectural Delight

Nestled 30 kilometers away from Söke town in Aydın, Doğanbey Village offers a fascinating glimpse into the architectural and cultural heritage of the late Ottoman period. Originally named “Domatia,” which means “rooms” in Greek, the village was established by Greek settlers and was later renamed Doğanbey.

Doğanbey Village, leaning against the picturesque Mykale Mountains (Dilek Mountains), is renowned for its well-preserved stone houses, narrow streets, and historical buildings. The village was largely abandoned after the Greek migration to Greece due to the population exchange during the War of Independence. However, the remaining structures, including residences, shops, hospitals, and fountains, reflect the unique architectural features of the era.

Today, the village is a living testament to the late Ottoman period, with restored buildings that preserve their original charm. The stone houses and historical sites have been meticulously restored by new owners, maintaining the village’s authentic character.

Visitors to Doğanbey Village can enjoy its serene atmosphere and natural beauty, combined with the striking architecture that makes this village a unique destination. The narrow streets, traditional stone houses, and historical buildings offer a picturesque and immersive experience.
